Happy 2022, Everyone!

This notice is later this year, as we have been waiting for guidance to organize events in the coming months.

Holidays and Schedule Changes:

Classes will not be in session for one week during the Spring Break starting Monday, March 21st. Classes will begin again Monday, March 28th.  Please let us know if you will be away from March 28 to April 2nd as we may need to combine or cancel some classes. Please visit our website www.dancearabesque.ca  for notices and visit the Calendar Page for dates of events throughout the year. 

Dressing for Dance: 

It is important for safety and training purposes that students wear proper ballet shoes, have hair pulled back neatly in a bun, and wear no jewellery. All cellular phones need to be turned off during classes. Students should have a dance bag to keep all dance equipment and hair supplies together. Please put your name in your dance shoes. 

Adult Ballet:

I have had a couple of requests for classes from adults who have had some ballet training in the past and would like to take classes again for fun and fitness. I have a class time available on Fridays at 6:30 for anyone who may be interested. Please email me at info@dancearabesque.ca or call 250-595-3107.

Year End Performance- Friday, June 10th:

Plans are being made for all students to participate in a year end performance. This year we are planning a live performance at Glenlyon Norfolk School Theatre, 800 Richmond St. on Friday, June 10th. Everyone is looking forward to dancing on a stage again and having an audience! We will be following all Covid protocols and guidelines required at the time for our event. Although our show will be smaller and shorter than in past years, we wanted our students to enjoy the experience of performing in a theatre again. We are planning a schedule that will include a dress rehearsal after school and the performance in the evening of the same day.

Costumes: 

We are beginning to prepare for costumes for the performance. The costumes for the youngest children will not be ordered or made until closer to the performance time, to make sure they fit! We will be asking for a costume depositof $50 for students ages 4-8 years and $70 for students 9 years and older for each costume they will be wearing in the performance. The deposits will be due March 15th, 2021. 

Picture Day- Sunday, May 29th:

Many of you will be happy to hear that Jun Cha of “Hann’s Photo & Video” will be returning to take our photographs this year. Pictures will be taken at our studio, in the church hall, on Sunday, May 29th. I will send out the schedule for this soon. Each class group and individual pictures should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. We will hand out the picture order envelopes in advance so that they can be prepared to give to the photographer before the pictures are taken.

Summer Dance: 

We are planning weeklong summer dance camps. For younger children, “Invitation to Ballet” will take place in late July and will include creative dance, crafts, and stories. There will also be camps for older children that will include ballet, contemporary dance, and physical conditioning classes. Dates and times will be available soon!
