During the 2022-2023 dance season at Arabesque, we continue to change and adjust with current times and adapt our plans to benefit our students. Due to two school trips in June, our year end Recital will take place earlier than past years. The performance will be Thursday, June 1st at Glenlyon Norfolk Denford Hall Theatre. We are all looking forward to seeing you there!

Costumes: Costumes have been arriving and students will be trying them on during their classes. An invoice will be sent for any remaining costume costs once costumes are available. When invoices are paid, students may bring a garment bag and hanger and take their costumes home before picture day. If students have more than one costume, a special dance garment bag is useful, as they include pockets for dance shoes, hair and costume accessories. Students are not to wear costumes at home until photographs, rehearsals and performances are finished. We want everyone to be able to perform in their new, clean costumes. Students will not be able to perform if the costume is damaged.

Victoria Day WeekendMay 20th-22nd- Classes are in Session:

We will have classes on the Victoria Day weekend and hope everyone can be in class, as our show is coming up quickly and this year has been difficult to have everyone together for classes and rehearsals!

Classes will be earlier Friday and Monday, as there is no school these days. Students in the Friday and Monday classes will be notified of schedule changes. Please let us know if you will be away!

Picture Day– Sunday, May 14th:

Many of you will be happy to hear that Jun Cha of “Hann’s Photo & Video” will be returning to take our photographs this year. Pictures will be taken at our studio, in the church hall, on Sunday, May 14th. A schedule and more information for the picture day will be given to everyone ahead of time. Each class group and individual pictures should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. We will hand out the picture order envelopes in advance, so that they can be prepared to give to the photographer before the pictures are taken.

Performance(s) at Seniors Residence:

I am currently arranging for our students to dance a short performance in at least one Seniors residence in May, as we had done for more than eighteen years! More information will be coming soon.

Dress Rehearsal & Recital – Thursday, June 1st

Since our studio is small this year, our Recital will be shorter than in the past. We are going to hold our dress rehearsal and our Recital in the same evening, as we did many years ago and last year. Students will arrive for the Dress rehearsal at 3:45 pm and should be finished by 5:15. The Recital will take place at 7:00 pm. More information will be sent to students closer to the event.

Last Day of Regular Dance classes:  Thursday, June 15th, 2023

Summer Dance:

Plans are being made for summer dance weeks. An “Art and Dance” camp in late July for students 5-7 and 8-10 years is being organized. This will be an opportunity for children to try a few mediums of art and enjoy a daily dance class. (dates will be announced) Please let us know if you are interested! The second summer course will be August 21st-25th for older students with more dance experience. More information will soon be on our website www.dancearabesque.ca. and available at the studio. We are looking forward to the summer classes and hope you and your friends will be joining us!

Fall Registration– 2023-2024:
